1 chance on the wheel:   $25
2 chances on the wheel: $45
3 chances on the wheel: $65

HOW CAN THE KLL PROVIDE SUCH EXTENSIVE PRIZING WITH SUCH A LOW LEAGUE FEE?
To keep the league fee low for our members, we have included the optional weekly Spin the Wheel contest which helps to subsidize fees.

We have also partnered with businesses who have generously sponsored the KLL. We thank them for their generosity and support of women’s golf at KGC.

I’m new to golf. How will I be able to contribute to my team?
The Golf Shop uses a program called Golf Genius. Each week, your score is entered into this program by the club’s staff. Golf Genius will calculate a league handicap for each KLL player.

A handicap is a wonderful thing - it evens the playing field! League scores are based on your net score (handicap deducted from your overall gross score).

The KLL also has a maximum 10-stroke allowance for each hole. Just pick up your ball after 10 strokes.

WHAT IS A LEAGUE HANDICAP?
Typically, players use the GAO handicap for casual and competitive play. A vast majority of leagues develop and successfully use a league handicap, including KGC's men’s league. League scores are all automatically entered into the system, generating the handicap which is a rolling average; this ensures precision and consistency. Keeping it simple and focusing on rounds played within the league is key. It does require a sample size of 3-5 weeks to establish a handicap reflective of how you play on league night.

Thank you for your patience.

*Note that you still need to enter your league scores into Golf Canada for your GAO handicap.

WHY USE A LEAGUE HANDICAP?
We listened to our league players’ comments about the use of a GAO handicap. Using a league handicap was the best solution.

While the GAO handicap takes time to respond to a change in your game, a league handicap is very quick to react to more immediate changes.  While not everyone starts the league with a GAO handicap, this provides the opportunity to ensure the system is most equitable.  It is influenced only by league scores as opposed to casual games. League players experience the same weather conditions on league days.

Quality Assurance - all scores for each player are entered to be equitable and ensure accuracy.

HOW IS MY LEAGUE HANDICAP CALCULATED?
Follow these steps once logged into the KGC website:
Members - Golf Event Registrations - Women’s Events - KLL - Results - League Handicap (top/right tab) - ‘Details’ to the right of your name - click the ’i’ in the green circle.

Fun Facts about Handicaps:
We can all expect a bell curve of a variety of scores throughout 20 rounds.
Players will play below their handicap 20% of the time or once every 5 rounds.
Golfers only beat their handicap by 3 strokes, once every 20 rounds.

I AM NEW TO GOLF AND AM UNSURE OF THE RULES.
Even those of us who have played for many years, sometimes need reminders. The KGC Women’s Golf Committee has created a mini-rules card that you can carry in your golf bag at all times. This helps to clarify rulings for common situations. These are handed out during the first two weeks of the women’s league play. If you and your golfing partners are in doubt, play an extra ball just for the hole, keep both scores, and check with one of our knowledgeable Golf Pros at the end of your round.

DO I HAVE TO PLAY AT DESIGNATED KLL TEE TIMES ON THURSDAYS?
Although Thursdays is designated for the KLL at KGC, our league is comprised of just over 70 players. In fairness to other KGC members, we can only reserve tee times to accommodate the size of our league. As a result, predicting schedules and preferred times can be challenging. If the tee times that have been blocked off for league play, do not match your schedule or preferences, please feel free to enter a ballot 7 days prior.

IF I AM UNABLE TO PLAY WITH A LEAGUE MEMBER, BUT PLAY ON THE DAY, CAN I STILL ENTER MY SCORE?
Although the intention of a league is to bring golfers together for camaraderie and friendly games, we understand that your schedule may not always align with other league members. For this reason, please enter your score for league play and hopefully you will be able to connect with league golfers another week.

IF I’M UNABLE TO ATTEND EVERY WEEK, WON’T THAT IMPACT MY TEAM?
We’ve got you covered!
We recognize that our members lead busy lives and may not be able to attend each week. KLL teams include 12-13 golfers. This is large enough to compensate for our members’ fluctuating schedules. There will always be someone available to represent your team, so it all works out.  Knowing our members and their schedules has allowed us to ensure that each team will be represented each week.

HOW & WHY ARE TEAMS CREATED?
Teams have been created to foster a spirit of camaraderie.

The committee and Golf Shop used data to ensure that teams were as equitable as possible. Each grouping has a variety of handicaps and is reflective of individuals’ schedules. We realize that teams will never be perfectly equitable, but league handicaps will help to better equalize the groups.

SCORING. DO I STILL HAVE TO ENTER MY SCORE?
Each group uses the provided KLL scorecard to record your strokes. For personal reference, you can also keep a personal KGC scorecard or once your round is complete, take a picture of your KLL scorecard.

The Golf Shop will take care of all of your league data but it is up to you to enter your score into the Golf Canada app or website portal. This calculates your GAO handicap.

HOW DO I FIND THE WEEKLY RESULTS?
An instructional video will be posted on the KLL website which demonstrates how to find the KLL results online.

You can also check the Ladies’ Leagues calendar which has been posted in the glass case under the Golf Shop overhang. Each week, the team’s colour will be recorded on this calendar.

WHAT PRIZES ARE AWARDED THROUGH THE KLL?
We believe in our club, and therefore support our Golf Shop and Clubhouse by using Golf Shop credit and Kawartha Cash Cards. This allows our members to choose their prize. Don’t forget that you can order items through the Golf Shop.

TEAM PRIZES: Each week, the attending members of the winning team with the lowest net score will receive Golf Shop credit of $15 each. For our first league night, we awarded $20.

SPIN THE WHEEL: Each week the winner receives a $50 KGC Cash Card. Watch on Instagram or Facebook for the $50 Kawartha Cash Card winner. This prize must be picked up from Leigh in the Admin office and can be used at the Clubhouse, The Shack, or at the Golf Shop.

HALFWAY & FINAL FUN DAYS: On these designated days, team play is suspended and there will be individual competitions on each of 9 holes for prizes of Golf Shop credit.

MARG ROGERS: In honour of past member, Marg Rogers, a trophy will be awarded to the winner of the net competition.

KLL CHAMPIONSHIPS: Toward the end of the season, the gross/net champions will receive $125 Golf Shop credit and 2nd place gross/net winners will receive $100 Golf Shop credit.

WHAT HAPPENS WITH THE REMAINING KLL BUDGET AT THE END OF THE YEAR?
Any remaining funds will be used to subsidize KLL members’ entry fees for the KGC Women’s Club Closing which is co-hosted by the club’s Ladies’ Leagues.

**The KLL committee is happy to share a summary proposed budget upon request at the beginning of May and an actual summary at the end of the golfing season.
